Ever since I caught the travelling bug, I have been winging it with my luggage. Over the years I have borrowed my parents and relatives suitcases, my brothers back packs and my friends bags. Never committing to having my own luggage. That is until I found the Pacsafe 15L Daypack. It is a great size for day trips (or ever weekend trips if you pack wisely) and it packs down into itself for when you are not using it!

Pacsafe 15L Day Pack

I’ve had bad experiences in the past with backpacks that feel like they are slicing through your shoulders. I’ll be honest, I expected the Pacsafe 15L Daypack to be just that. I mean, how much padding can a packaway day pack really have? Just enough, it seems. I hiked a mountain for the better part of 6 hours, wearing the bag from 7am – 7pm full of water, juice, snacks, hats, scarves etc. Not once did I feel any pain. The airmesh padded straps together with the width of them seems to balance the weight of the day pack pretty evenly.

Anti Theft

One thing I don’t like too much about carrying bags on my back is constantly worrying that someone could just unzip it and take my stuff. I’m paranoid, I know. But it is genuinely something I always worry about. I’m always checking and double checking that my zips are all still zipped.

Smart Zipper Technology

Zipper pullers can be attached to discreet security hooks or placed under & through a secure tab to prevent pickpockets reaching into your bag

Slashguard Pockets

The Pacsafe 15L Daypack has aΒ detachable security pouch reinforced with eXomesh slashguards and smart zipper security to help prevent cut & run theft and pickpockets from stealing your valuables.

So I could rest easy that it would be pretty near impossible for someone to stealthily rob me.

Again being the skeptic that I am, when I saw this was a packaway day pack I thought that surely it would be tiny. I was pleasantly surprised. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not massive. But I can see it being big enough to do me a weekend away somewhere. Not only have you got the main compartment, but you’ve also got the internal slash guard pocket, as well as the outer front pocket. I like to keep all the things I reach for the most in the front pocket, i.e. Coin purse (not wallet) lip balm, hair ties, sunglasses, snacks, etc.

The Pacsafe 15L Daypack is also the perfect size to use as a carry on. If you are checking your luggage but want a bag for your iPad, book, water bottle etc. Β this is the bag for you!

Let’s get superficial. I actually really like how the Pacsafe 15L Daypack looks. I have already started using it for work some days when I have too much to put in Β a handbag. It’s black so goes with anything and isn’t bit and bulky. They’ve really made the effort to make the desgin quite sleek.

  1. I too worry about the possiblity of someone stealthily stealing from my backpack but, given I can’t find half the things I’m looking for when I need them, I’m probably worrying unnecessarily. Despite that, this daypack seems very secure. Thanks for the thorough review!

  2. I love PacSafe too! We have the safe net which we tie around our daypack and attach to something unmoveable like a bed frame then cover with a scarf or coat. Travelled for 17 months around 16 countries and (touch wood) never had an thefts.

  3. Impressive bag, I must say this! I am using my old backpack since many years and somehow I always forget to buy a new one, more comfy and safe. I really like here on this Pacsafe the safety aspect, I totally agree with you. By carrying your stuff you do not want to worry all the time if someone stealthy is trying to rob you,e specially in crowded places. I will have a closer look on this now, thanks for sharing this!

  4. It’s surprising that a packaway daypack is comfortable! πŸ˜€ I’ve never trusted these kind of bags, byt maybe I just need to try and use them to see if I might not actually like them πŸ™‚ It does seem very handy to have a bag which you can pack away when you don’d need it…

  5. I love how small it is when you don’t use it. I always stuff my backpack in my carry on luggage but this sounds ideal! I’ll look into this the next time I go shopping for a new daypack.

  6. Such a great find – I always am on the lookout for something decent for my city breaks to get around town without hurting my back. But I am worried about theft so these zippers are a godsend!

  7. Wow this bag sounds like perfection! I have my own luggage but I’ve been agonizing over finding the right backpack for day trips and other activities that require just that – I think this might be the one! Thanks for sharing!

  8. The backpack looks quite cool. I also feel paranoid all the time pickpocketing while lugging a backpack all the time especially at crowded places. Though i don’t like carrying one but at times you don’t have an option . This backpack looks quite cool

  9. I have a very similar packable backpack that I always travel with! It’s one of my favorites and I actually just got one for my mom and dad for Christmas! It’s awesome for backpacking because I can use it on my day hikes. I’m actually in the market for a new one though as I wore mine into the ground, so thanks for sharing this! πŸ˜€

  10. I am exactly the same when it comes to security and backpacks. I’m forever wondering if I’m getting robbed, or wearing it on my front like a nerd on buses and trains and in crowds. I love the sound of this backpack. And the idea that it doesn’t dig into you after five hours of wearing would be absolute heaven! #FarawayFiles

  11. Great timing! We need to downsize our backpack now the kids require a little less stuff and I’m particularly safety conscious after our disaster in the Cinque Terre. Off to take a look now. Thanks Chiera #farawayfiles
